Keema Dopiaza

This... isn't my recipe. I don't know where it came from. It dates from the very early days of my curry cooking, but I can't find it any recipe book I have.

Ingredients

  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1/2 tsp dried chilli flakes
  • 2 garlic cloves, crush
  • 10g ginger, chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 300g lamb mince
  • 150g yoghurt, plain
  • 2/3 can of chopped tomatoes
  • 100ml water

Method

  1. Fry the onion gently for 10-15 minutes until golden.
  2. Turn down the heat and add the chillis, garlic, ginger abd spices. Fry gently for 2 minutes, stirring continuously.
  3. Add the mince, turn up the heat and fry until nicely browned.
  4. Add the yoghurt 1 spoon full at a time, mixing each one in well before adding the next.
  5. Tip in the tomatoes and the water. Bring to the boild and simmer for 20-30 minutes.

Serve with rice.
